Sacred Day of Healing Descriptions

1.)  Tara: Is called the Great Protectress; who protects from the Eight different types of Fears and thus bestows fearlessness   She is known as the "mother of liberation" and the Buddha of Enlightened Activity.  Receiving her blessings through this healing ceremony will help bring success in work and achievements.  Tara’s healing energies aides one to develop inner qualities and understand outer, inner and secret teachings about compassion and emptiness.   Tārā is also known for her great compassion, bestowing long life, healing and serenity.  Thus she is also called The Wish-fulfilling Wheel.

2.) Medicine Buddha: Through this healing ceremony, we invoke the Medicine Buddha whose sky-colored divine body of lapis lazuli signifies omniscient wisdom and compassion as vast as limitless space, and the lama will request him to please grant his blessings.  The historical Buddha, Buddha Sakyamuni, is recorded as saying that by uttering the Medicine Buddha’s mantra, one is free of the nine untimely causes of death and of all suffering.  All subsequent reincarnations will be "peaceful and joyous".  It is also said that one can also petition the healing powers of the Medicine Buddha by visualization practices to "invoke the spiritual force of that deity, in order to heal all diseases, inner and outer".  Intense identification with various characteristics associated with the emanation of the Medicine Buddha invokes a spiritual attitude which generates deep healing action with the participant’s psychosocial continuum. Even the name of the Medicine Buddha is believed to have the power to free one from the pattern of negative thoughts and emotions. Healing can occur just by speaking, hearing or concentrating on his name.

3.)  Vajra Vidaran: This healing ceremony is a special antidote to purify all contaminates, both internal and external.  By receiving this ceremony, it will cleanse the contaminants of the air we breathe, food we eat, clothes we wear, and other types of poisons and contamination.  It also helps to cleanse the chakras and th energy of the body, helps to pacify frustration, depression and anxiety.  It can help to dispel nightmares and bad dreams and bring success in your life.

Afternoon Group Healing in the Main Shrine Room

The Healing Chöd will be performed followed by a Tibetan Tea   Ceremony (Serkyem Offering)

Healing Chöd is an ancient Buddhist ritual known for its power to heal mental and physical sickness, remove karmic obstacles to spiritual growth, and address human suffering. During the multiple-session Healing Chöd ceremony, there will be no teachings to listen to, no instructions to follow or techniques to learn. Just bring your favorite pillow, a blanket or mat.  You may sit or lay down and relax. The Healing Chöd consists of four musically compelling rituals led by Drupon Samten Rinpoche and the monks and nuns of the Drikung Monastery in Escondido. The sacred sound and mantra initiate favorable conditions necessary to pacify the causes of discord and illness. With roots in the teachings of the Prajnaparamita Buddhist Sutra, this Chöd ceremony contains the essence to the teachings of Machik Lapdron, an eleventh-century female Buddhist master in Tibet.

This Healing Chöd event is being offered for the our benefit of our patrons, benefactors and local community and to raise money for our new monastery.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled starting time of this event.

Tea Ceremony

The Tibetan Tea Ceremony (Serkyem Offering) is a wonderful and delightful ceremony.

A bowl and cup is set in the center of a table and tea is poured into the
cup. It is symbolic of our lives. When we are open to receive, our blessings overflow.

The Tibetan Buddhist Tea Ceremony is different from a Japanese Tea Ceremony.  One way it is dissimilar is that in Tibetan Tea Ceremony, you don't drink any tea, but rather you chant and bring a wish to be granted, by the Enlightened Dharma Guardians, who are very important protector deities in the Buddhist traditions.  The monks and nuns of the Monastery will perform this special Tea Ceremony making requests on everyone’s behalf.

During the ceremony, each person is invited to participate and make a wish.
