DKC is pleased to announce this rare visit of this precious lama.

Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche was born to a noble family in Lhasa in 1935 the son of Tspon Shuguba the treasurer of the Dalai Lama’s government.      At the age of 7 he was recognized as a reincarnation of Sevan Repa a heart Disciple of Milarepa, Tibet’s great 11Th Century Poet-Saint.  In 1959 he became the Vice-Abbott of Ngor Monastery in the Sakya tradition but fled Tibet during the invasion of the communist Chinese. Rinpoche came to the USA in 1972 and established Ewan Choden Tibetan Buddhist Center in Kensington, California. Lama Kunga has many students around the world.  Lama Kung is known for his rare empowerments that he holds from many Tibetan Buddhist Schools and lineages. 

Saturday April 13 at 10 am: WHITE MAHAKALA empowerment. The blessing of White Mahakla is for obtaining Wealth and removing obstacles. 

Saturday April 13 at 2 - 4 pm MEDICINE BUDDHA empowerment. The blessing of the Blue Medicine Buddha is for healing and helps in many areas of our lives including business. 

Sunday April 14 at 10 am: CHENREZIG MEDITATION: Traditional Tibetan meditation on compassion. 

Sunday April 14 at 1.30 pm : TSOG OFFERING These special offering prayers and rituals bring blessings for all and it is a special ceremony performed by the monks and nuns at DKC.

Vegetarian dishes only for this program.  There is NO charge for this program.  We are sending a generous donation to His Holiness in India on behalf of the DKC sangha for his long life and success in all his Dharma activities. 

You can welcome to attend part of the day if you can not attend all day.

Meditation and Morning Ceremonies beginning at 9:00 AM 

We will begin the morning session outside with New Year's prayers and the raising of prayer flags and consecration ceremony. There will also be a Tsong-chod (small fire puja) offering to cleanse the negative energy for all sentient beings and the environment. Tsong-chod is an important practice in tibetan Buddhism. It is an offering to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, Bodhisattvas, Yidams. Making this specific supplication offering also clears obstacles and restores positive energy and brings peace and happiness to all. We will join together for the Amitayus Long Life practice including Tsok (food) offering for His Holiness Dalai Lama, Holinesses Drikung Kyabgon’s Chetsang and Chuntsang and other great lamas and for traditional kata offerings on the throne. We will also include aspiration prayers for world peace. This will be followed by the Dharma protections invocation. At

10:30am we will begin the Sacred Tantric Lama Dances.

1:30pm we will have a potluck lunch. We will prepare Tibetan and Indian food and special Tibetan cookies. We also ask that you bring a favorite dish to share or something for yourself if you are on a special diet for the potluck. You are also welcome to bring something for the Tsok Offering. After the potluck we will have some Tibetan singing and dancing along with Tea, Coffee, Juice and Snacks.  

Suggested Donation 

There is a suggested donation of $20, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. You are welcome to attend and offer what you can, or you can help support at some other time. All proceeds of this event will go to the DKC Enlightenment Stupa project. We will also have Tibetan prayer flags for sale. It is a good time to hang prayer flags at your home to bring in the New Year. In addition, there will be some new items for sale in our Dharma store from Nepal and India.
